@aelaraji@aelaraji.com hahahahaha! Good findings. Yes, most of them are invented, and medical/drug related. The kick with the German ones is that they summarise an entire paragraph, with not just meaning, but also feelings, andāhypotheticallyāhard to describe extra meanings rather difficult or impossible to translate to other languages.
Wow, so pretty, dude! The one you used on this twt (tiny photo too, not sure what happened here) doesnāt make justice to the entire set. Very good clicks there!
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com LOL. Thatās pretty much it, and it just means āextraordinaryā. š¤£
@prologic I think it happens more, and more, while on mobile. I use iCloud Private Relay, if that helps.
Now, donāt misunderstand me. With all the perceived drawbacks/flaws I listed, Yarn works. Could it be much better? For sure. But it works. :-D
@eapl.me@eapl.me you wrote:
I donāt use Yarn/Twtxt.net anymore, although I read the homepage a few times a week to catchup on anything interesting.
Then you do use it, no? Right? :-D
I barely twt from my PHP instance.
Because PHP sucks! See what I did? I am āencouragingā engagement! :-D
ā¦ itās too superficial to have a meaningful conversation.
Microblogging is often the antithesis of meaningful. You talk about everything, and anything you want. Even to the void. You have done it!
Yarn is niche. With itās forks, and yarns, it comes across as a āweirdā microblogging for some (weird was the word a friend from Philippines used to refer to Yarn). The UI/UX has issues (I am not an expert, but I would say copying āthe othersā and slightly adjusting to give Yarn itās own uniqueness should work), and that keeps people away. The cache blows, I want to be able to see everything, at all times. The built-in search blows, I want a more āala Googleā kind of search. There is more, but you get the gist.
@prologic standing up Mastodon isnāt that much complicated. It is just a little bit more demanding than Yarn, thatās all.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org ālooking forward to the next weekendā; I see what you did there! :-D
@movq@www.uninformativ.de fear not! We know we are animals that do things on cycles. We also copy each other. Whatās old becomes new, over and over. It is bound to endā¦ eventually.
I am not fond of it either.
@prologic and by āyāallā you meant eapl, right? I noticed that too, and LOLed IRL. š¤£
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Yeah improvements should roll out much more quickly than I can by hand š¤£
I just think itās hilarious that yāall say you donāt use Yarn / twtxt.net in one breath, but in the same you say you frequently visited the frontpage of twtxt.net to catch up on stuff š¤£
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Okay, so no āfire hoseā š¤
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Speaking of which, can we make any obvious (low hanging fruit) improvements here? š¤
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Oof ouch! š±
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Live in a flight path? š¤
@eapl.me@eapl.me Is self hosting an instance (Yarn or Mastodon) just too hard for most? š¤ I know standing up āas to don is a biatch for sure š¤£
Haha š¤£ No worries! Maune that use-case can move to the search engine / crawler? š¤
How do we all feel about a āfire hoseā front page on https://search.twtxt.net/ ? š¤
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org I feel blessed already! :-P
@Anthony_Sorace@a.9srv.net Why not Go?
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org To me it sounds just like Stairway to Heaven played backwards. :D
@movq@www.uninformativ.de I love it! Wish there were words like those in English! š¤£
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Thanks!
Whoo! š„³ I won 2 of my 3 singles tonight! š
Having slept for only 2 hours, I truly feel like, well, someone who has only slept 2 hours. š¤ Canāt wait for lunch time to take a small nap.
