@ullarah I always go out of my way to opt-out of any data collecting thing they try to push and use a WinOptimizer (from Ashampoo) designed to block and sabotage as much telemetry as possible, in hopes that it at least gives me some level of anonymity. But I know the average user doesn’t even read those things and just clicks "Next" until Windows setup finishes with the default options - to track everything.

@ullarah@txt.quisquiliae.com I try, but despite the friends and family finding it somewhat interesting, or sometimes even bringing these topics up themselves, they still usually download Chrome onto their new device or do the thing I was trying to warn them against, right after or while I’m still telling them why it is bad, so I can’t help but feel like “my words are falling on deaf ears”.
